Flight Chronicles - The video is out

As promised, I have taken a little video of me flying. It is interesting to see yourself fly from another angle. I thought I was much more steady than this. Oh well, enjoy.

You can download the full size video here if you so wish.

O.K. I have tried watching this on the blog, I would download the full video.

Haha, you're at my level now. I need more stick time!

I have been flying as much as possible. My hovers are unstable, my landings are shaky (and usually in the form of a crash), and my side ins are ugly. But I find it kind of like golf. You hover in that sweet spot for a bit and have a nice recovery now and again, and it makes me want to keep trying. The difference is, I actually think I have a chance at getting good at flying.

When you are doing your side-ins, stay in ground effect, i.e., about 6 inches off the ground. If things go all hinkey, the safety of the ground is not too far away. I've noticed that when I fly outside it is oh-so-easy to gain a lot of altitude. And keep tight control of your trim - if you are attempting to side-in hover and the trim is drifting towards that side, soon you will be nose-in hovering, and .0053 milleseconds after that, looking for your superglue bottle and the phone number to Hub Hobby.

Yeah, I have experienced the 0.0053 millisecond effect. Nose in is bad. Everything is so wrong when that happens.

It's like the human brain was never meant to process data that way.
